EarlyAct at The University School

During her term as President of the Rotary Club of St Augustine, Maria chartered the first EarlyAct Club in Trinidad and Tobago, creating a structured pathway for young children to experience service and leadership.

Continuing inquiry, grounded in the Caribbean.

Maria is pursuing an MPhil in Tropical Earth and Environmental Science at The University of the West Indies, St Augustine. She earned an undergraduate degree from The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, and also holds postgraduate qualifications in Mass Communication and New Media from the University of Leicester.

A Caribbean childhood shaped by Barbados.

Maria grew up in Barbados, where some of her earliest memories of learning, community and belonging were formed.

The photograph at left has special meaning: it was taken by her late father as she prepared to attend St Angela’s Ursuline Convent at four years old. It is preserved here as part of the story—not as a polished portrait, but as a family record.
